Fran Clark and Marilyn Bodine were part of a group of Christians who prayed with and for others beginning in Phoenix in 1977; the group included practicing physicians who had a deep love for Jesus. Over a period of years, the need for people to receive healing beyond traditional medicine began to impact us and we began to discuss how the Lord might want to accomplish that. In 1996 it became clear that not only did people need to receive healing prayer but that many more folks needed to learn how to pray for healing themselves - that the Lord had a much bigger vision that we and that He desired a place and an opportunity to touch many more people with His healing love.

After much prayer and discussion, it was determined this could best happen by forming a corporation to expand the ministry. In January 1997 the Institute for Human Development, Inc. was formed as a 501-C3 nonprofit entity in the State of Arizona. Classes were begun using the model from Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, FL, with Francis and Judith MacNutt, et al. By word of mouth and physician referrals, healing prayer began in ernest.

Since that time, the Institute has conducted training classes numerous times weekly and has ministered to many people over these past 8+ years. There have been many miracles of physical healing. However, the greatest joy comes in seeing people restored in their faith and personal relationships, finding the power of God in their daily lives and sharing their new found gifts with others, particularly in their families.

Fran and Marilyn began their healing journey with the Lord in 1969 and have had the pleasure and the benefit of teaching from not only the MacNutts, but Barbara Shlemon, John Wimber, Derek Prince, Don Basham, Bob Whitaker, Fr. George Montague, Fr. Mike Scanlan, Don Williams, Mike Evans, and many other wonderfully gifted teachers and healers. Part of that journey included time at the border with Fr. Rick Thomas, working with the poor and Fran spending Saturdays at the dump in Juarez with the poor.

Part of the vision the Lord placed on our hearts was to provide an opportunity for others to receive some of the wonderful teaching we had so freely received many years ago. In 2000 IHD began to invite gifted speakers/healers to share their gifts with those who wished to participate. We are now anticipating 2 conferences yearly; we believe that we "should freely give what we have freely received" and these conferences are open without charge to all who wish to come. The Institute is supported by donations and the Lord has provided the financial means through the generosity of His people to continue this ministry. He also has provided wonderful volunteers who bring great gifts of wisdom and experience in many fields to assist in His loving provision of healing, teaching and encouragement as we grow in Christian love, learning how to reach out to others and bring the comfort of healing, whether it be emotional, physical or spiritual.
